Vintage Bamboo Chairs

I picked up these gorgeous vintage bamboo chairs off ebay a few months ago and then had the difficult decision of choosing a fabric to recover them in.

I decided on this fabulous Rubie Green fabric from Amanda at Oliveaux and couldn't be happier with the result. I was so excited when I picked these up from the upholsterer on Friday. We will be putting these in one of our styling projects that we will hopefully do a post on in the next week or so.

Happy Birthday to the most wonderful sister a girl could ask for. Today is Hayley's birthday so I thought I would post a few pictures from where we took her to celebrate (a little early) on Friday. Belle Epoque is a gorgeous French restaurant/cafe/bar at the Emporium in Fortitude Valley. We had been meaning to check this place out for ages and finally got around to it and it was well worth the anticipation.

I just had to sneak a picture of the bathroom in - lovely subway tiles and fresh towels.

Of course we couldn't leave without picking up some famous French macaroons. Well Hayle, I hope you have the most fabulous birthday and the year ahead is filled with happy surprises! Love Trace xx

Labor Day Weekend!

Well, girls it's going to be a long weekend with labor day coming on Monday. But I am guessing not long enough really. So.... what's everyone doing? I thought of a good day for me that is!

I would start by leaving the house in my chic little car with my best bud. We would roll the top down and take off with our hair blowing in the wind. LOL! Start by taking a little trip in the countryside and admirng all it's beauty.

Stop at a few Flea Markets on the way home. See what goodies they have interesting!

Once getting home, I'd go relax in the sun and take a dip in the pool!

At night have a romantic dinner with my boyfriend and relax by the candlelight maybe looking at the stars!

Ok, sounds corny I know. But ....hey I can dream of having a home, car, pool and more that looks like this right? Enjoy your weekend!

Makeover Magic...

Just came across these great "before and after's" on the Domino Magazine website. It's always inspiring to see how a space can be changed with a coat of paint or updated furniture and accessories.

How will we furnish and decorate our homes in the future?

You can actually see and experience how our homes will be furnished and lived in at the WIRED NextFest 2008. It's being held at Millennium Park in Chicago, from September 27th to October 12th. It's free to the public, and features groundbreaking exhibits of sustainable design, next generation healthcare, interactive art and games, humanoid robotics and more. Here are a few exhibits that look intriguing to me...




The HOVERIT Lounger - could you picture one of these in your living room? Think Philippe Starck's Louis Ghost Chair but...levitating. Perhaps the creators can describe it better...

Spend more time in your living room

I spend most of my time in either the kitchen cleaning and working, or in my bedroom sleeping. But recently I've noticed I'm most relaxed in my living room - probably because I'm not often doing work there, but simply relaxing with a book or magazine. It's a real luxury that we could all use more of, and I hope these living rooms encourage you to spend a little more time in the living room!

Look at this great interior design resource and store!

I found a really unique website this week that would be a great place for anyone on the hunt for antique and vintage furniture, called 1stdibs. I imagine some of you already know about it. It's a great place to stay abreast of what's going on in the field, as they feature designers, recommended books, and dealers.
