Bright Ideas: Initial It

Bold letters seem to be a popular trend in home decor lately and I love it! I am looking for some really cool letters to post B B @ B on my desk.
These are some fun ones I have found.
Anthropologie has cool chunky letters in matte metal.

This cast metal letter collection is found at Restoration Hardware. These are perfect for your desk, bookshelves or walls.
If you need a pop of color, Anthropologie also carries fun letters in fabric!

Coastal New England Ocean Oasis

One of my favorite parts of writing Willow Decor is getting to know the many other talented designers, architects, artists and residential photographers that make these beautiful spaces come alive. Meeting photographer Jamie Salomon was one of these special connections. Whether you are aware of it or not, you most likely have already seen his work. It has been featured in many magazines including, Coastal Living, Better Homes and Gardens, New England Home and several others.
He shared with me this wonderful cottage renovation on the New England coast. As you can see the home is located out on a peninsula. At high tide it becomes an ocean oasis. Though small, it is filled with everything you need to relax. The main room above features a kitchen nook and desk area.
Decorated in soothing whites and grays it is impossible not feel your tension rush away with tide. The cottage is sparsely decorated; intentional so you take in the spectacular ocean views. Here is the couch area from a different angle. I love the whitewashed walls which remind me of sun -bleached driftwood.
Opposite the seating area is a ladder to the loft above and a daybed tucked below. As you can imagine the views from every direction are breathtaking.
Here is a close up of the daybed overflowing with soft pillows. The wonderful sconces provide just the right light for curling up with a good book. With this view I am quite sure I would never leave - it gives a whole new meaning to word "bed-rest"!
Except of course to sit out on the deck and cast my line - Perhaps fish for dinner??
Have a wonderful relaxing weekend!

Guess Where Marc Chagall's Grand Daughter Works?

Marc Chagall was born in Russia.
He was involved in the Russian Revolution in 1917.
His work is awesome.
I love most his mostly unknown works that were painted on cardboard.
In the early part of this century in Paris most artist were starving and would paint on whatever they could find.
Including Picasso.
Marc Chagall in 1941
( grandpa )
His work reflects his life.
The revolution.
A Horsie!!!!
Bella Meyer is
the granddaughter of Marc Chagall.
Her Shop.
Fleurs Bella
(I absolutely love this entrance)
Born in Paris and raised in Switzerland, Bella Meyer grew up immersed in art.  As the granddaughter of Marc Chagall, Bella’s imagination and artistic expression were always valued at home, grooming her for a life of creativity.  On the academic side of life, Bella attained a Ph.D. in Medieval Art History at the Sorbonne in Paris, continuing all the while to paint and draw.  After moving to New York in her twenties, she found her bliss designing and building fantastical worlds of costumes, masks, and puppets for theatre, opera, and dance.

Her handmade pottery,
in which she will artistically place each beautiful flower or orchid in.

This is an interesting little tidbit.
Don't you think ?

I love finding out stories like this!

If you want to know more...Marc Chagall

The Fleurs Bella studio is located at 55 East 11th Street, New York, NY.
Info on Bella Meyer from the N.Y.T. and her website.

Beautiful Living : Minimalist Style

Are you a Minimalist? According to Wikipedia, minimalism describes a movement where "work is stripped down to its most fundamental features ... it is rooted in the reductive aspects of Modernism, and is often interpreted as a reaction against abstract impressionism and a bridge to Postmodern art practices." Strip it down to the fundamentals. Hide the clutter.
This Japanese style room is gorgeous and I am a huge fan of
plush cushions on the floor.
Notice all the geometric shapes the furniture makes in this room. The sofa, chair, and table form a square on the rug.
The green and orange colors are fun in this room!
The color scheme is even continued on the ceiling.
I have always been a fan of all white interiors and this one is no exception.

Happy Weekend

Happy weekend! I have a whole list of fun things to do today... pick out paint colors for the addition, pick out flooring for the art studio and other rooms, run (training for the 10K) and then hopefully watch a good movie?
Any ideas for a good rental?

Happy Saturday! More snow here today~ Is it ever going to stop? ~ I wish~
I found these cute pom pom's on a japanese site...but they call them VomVom's insteads on the site!
I really like how they have them stringed and hung up in the photo. I think I am going to make some for my little girl's birthday party in May!

Via Desire to Inspire.
