Thanks

First, thanks to all of the thoughtful comments about our Kobe.  We are grateful for the support and genuine compassion of others.  It is so quiet without him; Lucy has no romping partner and his red squeaky ball just sits quietly in the corner and his food bowl remains empty.

In this picture, he was looking out the window overlooking the driveway, to see if his dad was home from work.

We are trying to focus on our house.  I will post some lighting pictures this weekend.  Today, garage doors were installed and two rooms were painted.  We continue to wait for the bathrooms to be tiled and grouted.  The tile has sat unfinished for 3 1/2 weeks.  Husband and I are thinking about finishing it ourselves...we really want to move into this house this year!

Also, the front door needs to be stained and sealed (actually it should have been done about 2 months ago, not that we are counting or anything).  This is a real mahogany door and it is important to care for it properly.  I found this door online at a website called http://www.millworksforless.com/.  The door was delivered in a big crate on a semi.  Now, it just sits exposed to the elements while it gets damaged with nicks and bangs here and there.  I am not sure why it was packaged and handled so carefully, obviously that is all unnessasary.

Our deck is really nice.  The man who built it said we can drive a car on it because he builds them to be solid.  We do not plan to drive a car on it, but we do plan to have family and friends standing on it.  We are so excited to move into this house.  We are going loco!!  I will post some pictures of the place we are staying until the house is finished.  Believe me, after you see, you will want to come and help finish this house for us.

Goodbye for now!

Kobe Doo

With a very heavy heart, I am sad to say that our boy, Kobe Doo, passed away yesterday morning. He was 7 1/2 years old. He battled Lymphoma for 8 months, where he fought very hard to stay with us as long as possible. We already miss him terribly; actually we missed him the moment he was gone. He was a wonderful companion.

I need to add that my dear husband is the most wonderful person for all the love and compassion he has shown during our sorrow.  He has definately gone above and beyond to care for our boy and make him comfortable and happy during his illness.  I have great respect and adoration for my hubby; he is truly gifted. I am very fortunate to have him in my life.

Meet the Kids

This is Kobe Doo.  He is 7 1/2 years old; true brother of Lucy Lui (different litter of course, same parents). He enjoys walks, romping with his sister, watching out the front door, licking lotion, riding in the truck with his dad (my husband), going to work with his dad, playing with his football, red ball and chewing on Nyla bones.  He does not like for anyone to blow in his ear; this is an invitation for a brawl.  He loves to snuggle between his mom and dad (me and hubby); this makes him happy as a clam.  He likes to sleep in on Saturday mornings with his mom.  He adores peanut butter sandwich bones from the barkery.  He is a great big brother.  He often ignores Taco Chanel.

This is Lucy Lui, she is 5 years old.  She is a true sister of Kobe Doo.  She is afraid of Taco Chanel, likes to chase squirrels, opossums, rabbits, generally any varment in her yard.  She loves to run, carry anything she can find in her mouth (like a pacifier), romp with her brother, be loved on constantly and make offensive sounds like burping and tooting.

Taco Chanel is a rescue dog; we think she is about 3 years old from the information we have.  We know she was attacked by a dog(s), had puppies and her front teeth are completely worn to the gum (maybe she tried to chew through a cage).  She is extremely cute and mean at the same time.  I am afraid of what someone would do to her if she went to another home.  We adopted her last Memorial Day.  We love her and try to be understanding of her temperment.  She warns you by growling before she bites you.  It usually just hurts your feelings instead of actual pain.  She is a real stinker but we love her very much.  She is definately more Taco and less Chanel.

The Beginning

My husband and I are building a house and we hope to move in sometime in the next two weeks. We are living at his office and my in-laws. This has certainly been a trying time, feeling like we are losing our sanity, excited about the life we will share in a house we truly love.

This is also a bittersweet moment because we are so excited about the house and at the same time our wonderful golden retriever, Kobe Doo is struggling to live. He has lymphoma and he is only seven years old. It is hard to be happy when we are feeling so sad. He is such a good boy and he has been through so much, we are truly blessed to have him as our family member. We have no children yet and our dogs are our fur children. Please pray for our boy.
