Callie Grayson from Grayson: A Different Shade of Grey tagged me today with the challenge to pick an image that best describes my style!
Hmmmmm………… Can I cheat? Can I set my own rules here? How about styles for how I feel?
For when I need some balance and harmony in my life… The symmetrical lines of the mirror and the screen on the right, coupled with the simplicity of this room and the dark woods feel so relaxing. I don’t know what’s going on in the back room there though! Just ignore that part!
For when I’m in a romantic mood… there is nothing like a claw foot tub, with a simple chandelier hanging above to put me in a romantic mood. Well, o.k., maybe some Amos Lee on the Ipod and a glass of good red wine at arm’s reach.
For when I feel in a tropical mood…. This photo comes pretty darn close to the style I love. British Colonial, dark hardwood floors and shutters, white slip-covered furniture, personal effects throughout the room.
For when I’m in a natural, clean, uncluttered, everything must be in it’s place mood. I found this pic on Joni's website and I just love the elements in this space.
For the sophisticated side of me. A simple headboard, dark hardwood floors, a large piece of custom artwork on the wall to fall asleep to and some outstanding beside lamps. Already been there, done that with the babies, so I’d have to nix that from the picture!
For the contemplative side of me… There is something about this reading corner that relaxes me… perhaps the branches or the perfect chair.
AND….
I don’t know if Callie realized she tagged me twice this week (lol….), but I’ve been tagged to answer the following questions….
Hopefully this won’t bore you to death!
What is your current obsession?
Running on my treadmill. Trying to get in shape for summer!
What is your weirdest obsession?
Right now checking for spiders on the ceiling before I turn out the lights, because I saw one up there the other day! eeek!
What are you wearing today?
Jean capris, pink camisole, blue cropped sweater overtop, and my cute slipper flats.
Why is today special?
It’s my birthday today (14th).
What would you like to learn to do?
Speak French fluently, become an incredible cook (I’m not too bad now), be able to sing and not hurt people’s ears!
What's for dinner today?
Chipotle Grill Salad with Chicken! It’s so good! I have it about once a week!
What's the last thing you bought?
Airline tickets to San Diego!
What are you listening to right now?
My latest favorite music… Melody Gardot.
What is your favorite weather?
No brainer here… Sunny, slight breezy, about 80 degrees!
What is your most challenging goal right now?
Trying to finish up my Commercial Design class (challenging), while working for a local developer and keeping several side jobs going, all while taking care of my kids and keeping up with the house!
What do you think about the person who tagged you?
I don’t know Callie really well, but the several email conversations that we’ve had have been so nice! She seems like SUCH a sweet person and so authentic!
If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
I think along the coast somewhere in Santa Barbara or Montecito, California. That area is so beautiful. I want to live there someday.
Favorite vacation spot?
Maui, Hawaii and Japan… so far. There are many places that I’d love to visit that I haven’t had the chance to yet. High on my list are Scotland, Australia, England, Italy and Jamaica.
What would you like to have in your hands right now?
Keys to a new car.
What would you like to get rid of?
Hatred, war, shallow people, sarcasm, my extra weight, my cat’s liter box, my gas-hogging SUV.
If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
Well, considering it is midnight right now, I think the only place I want to go right now is to bed. But, in the morning, if I could go someplace, it would probably be to a great shopping district in England or Paris.
Which language do you want to learn?
French. The language of love!
What did you dream of last night?
I hate to answer this question, because for the past two nights I’ve had nightmares! Wierd, because I don’t ever have nightmares! I dreamt I crashed a bus and then I dreamt I saw a plane crash. It freaked me out. I woke up and had to go do something to get my mind off of it!
Who do you want to meet in person?
I think it would be neat to meet Barack Obama right now. I would also really love to meet and spend some time with Sir Richard Branson, Maya Angelou, and Tim Roth.
What's your favorite part about the city you live in?
It’s a relatively small town and that familiarity with everyone and everything is comforting.
What's the favorite piece of clothing in your own closet?
I hate all of my clothes right now. They only thing that I really like are the capris I have on! I need to do some shopping!
What is your dream job?
Interior Designer, which is what I am doing now. But, I would like to become more established and gain some more great clients that have trust in me to design some great spaces for them and also the budget to go along with it!
If you had $150.00 now what would you spend it on?
New clothes! But, I’d probably get to the store and end up buying something for my daughter or son instead! Maybe this is why I don’t have any clothes I love!
Fashion pet peeve?
I agree with Callie… women dressing scantily in their 40’s trying to be sexy. It just looks trampy people!
Do you admire anyone's style?
I think that Sharon Stone always dresses so impeccably. Or at least in the photos that I’ve seen of her. She has had some very classy ensembles that I’d love to emulate! I also love how they dress Jennifer Love Hewitt on Ghost Whisperer.
Describe your personal style:
Relaxed (beachy), classy, timeless, somewhat reserved with a trendy accessory or two at times.
Who's fashion show would you want tickets to?
Change of question…
What interior designer would you like to spend a day with?
At the moment, Celerie Kemble. I love her fresh take on design.
Okay, here's the rules:
1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention.
2. Tag seven other bloggers who you would love to learn more about :)
Sherry and John at This Young House
Rebecca at Loving. Living. Small.
Charmaine at Beautiful Things To Share
My added rule to the game…. do this is you want. If you don’t want to… no worries! We are all busy. But, it is fun to read about you and it helps us learn a little bit more about what goes behind your blogging genius!
