I am so in love with these pieces.  I have found more and more lately that I really think that a great piece of art makes a space or room complete.  I think that art is one of those things that is sometimes overlooked in a space.  But a great piece that makes you smile every time you walk into the room, even if you don't realize it is an amazing contributor.

Lamp L-O-V-E

My first real piece of my living room design plan from Urban Grace Design has arrived!  Here is the Agatha Table Lamp...

The body of the lamp has a crackle finish and the drum shade is a textured silk.  I am very happy with this purchase.  It is a little scarey ordering pieces that I have not seen in person, but this one is a definate winner!  I think this is Lamp Love!

Here is a peek at the fabrics that were selected for the ottoman and pillows.

All of the fabrics have been gorgeous.  It would be so nice to have access to any fabric your heart desires.  Can you just imagine the possibilities?  I wish I knew how to sew.  Every year I say I am going to learn, but alas another year has past and yet again I say I am gonna learn.

Long Distance Design

Well, I am not sure if all of my hundreds of followers follow the Urban Grace Design Blog, but if you don't here is the link:  http://blog.urbangrace.com/. Today, Erika posted about the design services she does via long distance.  To my utmost suprise the first design board she posted is my living room.  Yes, I am a long distant client of Urban Grace.  I am so excited and happy to have such talented people working on my house.

I first tried a local designer to come up with some ideas for the breakfast area, but I just did not feel the "wow" factor.  I wanted the designer to design like Erika of Urban Grace.  In fact, when I met with the designer she was trying to mimic a nursery to look like baby Sloane's nursery.  She had a client who printed out the pics and wanted her to make her baby's room like Sloane's.  My BFF, Elizabeth of Kentucky Mama, http://elizabeth-kentuckymama.blogspot.com/ suggested that I contact the original instead of paying someone else to copy her.  I am glad that I did because I have not been disappointed.

The whole process is very easy and worth it.  Erika has the info on her post regarding what you need to do if you are interested in her services.  All you have to do is fill out the information sheet, send a deposit and some inspiration pics and that is basically it.

I wish I could afford for Erika and Allison to come to KY and make my whole house fabulous all at once, but alas I am not rich, just a regular working gal.  So far, they have worked with my budget to find key pieces that I can afford that look rich.  I seriously have irregular heartbeats when I have a package arrive from their office.  The fabric samples are to die for.  Erika suggested my covetted trellis fabric for the breakfast room. L-O-V-E!

Unfortuanely when you order custom pieces it takes longer for them to be ready.  I may have to wait up to 12 weeks for my sofa, two chairs and ottoman.  I want it now!  The ottoman is going to be so cool.  It is shaped like an octogan and it is big.  I wanted the sofa and chairs in a neutral fabric, but the fabric for the pillows will be the real cool factor.  I have the samples and I totally drool over them.

While we were planning the breakfast and living room areas we found he perfect fabric for the dining room drapes.  I will have UG design the dining room later this year, but at least we have the drapes figured out so it will appear more finished.  I hope the fabric arrives in the next week or so because I am anxious to have them made.

The next UG project is going to be the entryway.  I think this will be a very important element for our house because it is the first impression as people enter your house.  Everything needs to flow seamlessly because our house is so open.

I am purchasing the big "key" pieces right now and then most of the accent pieces and accessories when I can afford it.  Warning:  design is addictive, the more you do, the more you want!!

I had an email from Paula @ UG letting me know that my Agatha lamp was shipped yesterday.  I am so excited to see it, touch it and hold it.  I know I will love it!

Mixing Vintage in the bedroom..

Mixing vintage and new is a great way to give a space individuality!

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly

I am a "BIG" Kelly Wearstler fan.  My love for Kelly began two years ago when my husband and I took a vacation to Miami.  We stayed at the beautiful hotel, The Tides, where the interior is designed by Kelly.  Here a few pics from our room we stayed in.

 

  

Check out the chair, it is a leaf.  The desk had a bronze leather textured finish.

  

  

  

You could see through the shower to the bed and sitting area.  Certainly not a suite for a modest family.

  

  

The turtle shells were not real.  I checked.

  

This gorgeous pool was saltwater, it was dreamy.

  

My husband and I enjoyed cocktails on the front area of the hotel each night.  It had a lounge feel with the plush sofas and oversized chairs.

Everything was so cool.  I wish I had taken pics of the lobby/lounge.  I am crossing my fingers that we will go back this year.  

I also choose some fabric for the breakfast area window treatments from the House of Kwid.

I received my newest subscription of Canadian House & Home and they have a small article on my girl Kelly's dressing room.

I hope my closet looks like this someday.  The purses are organized with adjustable glass dividers to suit any size purse.  Just think, I was so excited to receive plastic shoe drawers from West Elm.  I have a long way to go.

Greige guest suite by Tracery Interiors

If they invited me I would come and stay awhile. I am loving this guest suite from a home in Alabama, designed by Doug Davis and Paige Schnell from Tracery Interiors. They based the color palette on the colors found in the calacutta marble in the bathroom. Just perfect!

Tracery is a design firm that believes in mixing new and old pieces to make a space more inviting. The chair pictured in the guest suite was purchased from Circa Antiques in Alabama and refurbished for this space. Please check out our post on My Sparrow about this chair and a few other pieces that they reused.
