Super cute and chic French finds...

I discovered this online boutique, French Freak, via House Beautiful. I'm sure you'll find something you love, and the prices won't make you wince either. I think this stuff is adorable!

This Eiffel Tower blind was what caught my attention when I saw it in House Beautiful

They have so many of those adorable bamboo mats with the old advertisements on them - so if you don't see one you like here check on their site.

Cute, huh?!?

Check out this gorgeous vintage tablescape...

In Nesting Newbies, a shiny new online mag - lifestyle, food, entertaining, decor, etc. - they featured interior designer Jennifer Rowland Clapp and the magic she whipped up in the form of this gorgeous dining room. She shows - and tells- how to take the chintzy stuff you probably already have in your basement and turn it to a modern, glam set up. First - lets get your attention...

pretty right?

Jennifer's favorite shopping resource is Etsy, and one of her tips is that "contrast is key, and her rules for achieving it: 'reuse, repurpose, and have fun- balance, clean, modern pieces with ornate, vintage items; and don't overload the table'."

What I love about this look is that your stuff doesn't need to match - in fact, it is the variety which creates a modern spin on the look.

Like what you see? There's tons more in their online 2010 issue. Go to the Nesting Newbies site to see it! The beautiful photos are by Natalie Wi, Allure West Studios

A beautiful shabby chic Savannah cottage with some Scandinavian flavor

February is a great month for the home decor magazines. I had a stack waiting for me when I returned from Spain, and I've never used so many page markers! I thought I'd start off sharing all the things inspired me with this light and pretty Savannah cottage- which was condemned when the couple bought it for $29,000. I have a crush on Savannah so my ears always perk at the name!

I really like this simple, clean kitchen

I like the bedding and nightstand here, but I think all the objects above the headboard are a bit much. What do you think?

I really like flat(ish) weave, striped rugs. I really, really like them when they're only $2.99 like the one above from Ikea.

Period houses galore - people who live in centuries old homes

I literally stumbled across the site, Period Properties the other day, and down the rabbit hole I fell! It's like flipping through a fairy tale and seeing how people - rich and poor, lived hundreds of years ago. The catch is people live there now, have tried to preserve the character of the home, and tell their renovating stories.

unreal

I could totally call this cottage my own :)

My mother would love this room!

So - what do you think? Could you live in a home this old and so historically decorated?

A romantic turn of the century style home with a modern flair

I don't really know how to describe this home. It's featured in Skona Hem, so it features smart Scandinavian style, but it also looks like it could be a home from a fairy tale, or even a doll house. It looks like a home in a period film but at the same time features modern wallpaper, lighting, and fabrics. What do you think?

I really like the tall, thin cupboard in the back

*love* this bedroom

I'm all about mixing and matching chairs

Unique home decor and some good gift ideas!

Thought I'd share with you Inglenook decor, which I recently discovered. The shop looks like it has lots of pretty stuff for all decor styles - modern vintage, shabby chic, and lots of great Christmas gifts.

Here are some things I thought were particularly cute:

love these canvas buckets!

The store also features some really cool vintage/flea market finds.

Kathleen Kelly's "shabby sweet" studio apartment in "You've Got Mail"

I've been wanting to feature the adorable studio apartment of You've Got Mail's leading lady for quite sometime. It's an adorable and charming blend of Shabby Chic and Laura Ashley. I think it's especially endearing because it's like a little country cottage in the middle of the city, and because it fit's Kathleen so well. Her meal ticket is selling children's books, and her home looks like it's straight out of a fairy tale. What do you think? Would you change anything?

The above image is her home in the opening scene

After the store goes out of business I noticed her studio was rearranged, and was filled with objects from her shop. I like the bed placed at a diagonal as it is below.

I love her headboard and quilts

Her kitchen is really sweet - who'd think to put a little lamp in the kitchen?
