Rijuta Rishi is a graphic designer, and an eternal doodler. I loved her work when she first shared some of her art with me sometime back. One thing led to another, and she very graciously created banner art for An Indian Summer (look look - new header!). This header heralds the soon-to-come autumn/fall season :)
Rijuta on her art:
"I'm very drawn to ancient India, its mysticism and myths, so it's probably why I get very inspired by the traditional arts. There's room to 'say' something in many layers, and the symbolism is subtly embedded amidst their stories. Traditional forms feature in my doodles and art quite often, and mostly, I forget the world when I'm doing these."

On a more 'sober' note, Thank you all who have been visiting me and leaving me notes and sending me emails. Yes, tumblr commenting is a bit confusing to those of us used to other blogging platforms. So responding to your questions via this post: In tumblr, if you have an account, you can 'like' a post (the way you do in facebook), and also 'reblog' the post. But you do need to have an account for that. You will find these icons on the top right of any tumblr blogs' page once you create your own tumblr account. If you don't want to open a tumblr account, fret not! You can leave a comment via the disqus commenting system...and no, you don't need to have an account for that. Just click on the post heading (date/time in this case), and you will find the comment form.

Nothing fancy. Just an online scrapbook of things I like - art, jewelry, photographs, music, poetry, books, furniture, rooms, humour, DIYs, dresses, accessories, cats, illustrations, recipes, typography...anything that catches my eye! Exactly a week ago, I watched dumbfounded as mindless terror unfolded in Mumbai. We spent our last two days in London watching the live coverage and feeling desperate anger and frustration. As hours after hours passed, concern for family and friends in Mumbai was followed by fear and prayers for the innocent hostages and the brave commandos who were facing the terror firsthand.
My heartfelt tribute to all those who lost their lives or lost some one they knew in this horrific and cowardly attack. And a salute to the brave commandos and firemen who put their lives in danger to save many.
And, I fervently hope that all the countries get together to root out the perpetrators of such terror worldwide, and finish them. Once and for all.

I am in London for the next one month - will be busy with work, and then a vacation. Will drop by once in a while to say hello to you! :-)

I almost feel like adding a cheesy hugs graphic or something to this post because, well, I do feel like hugging you! Thank you for your emails and your responses to the survey...I am e-overwhelmed! And a special thanks to Ted, who has been diligently following up with Apple service center and tech folks and updating me on what the issue and solution might be!
So, from what I have understood so far, in a nutshell:
1. There seems to be an issue with older macs. And with OS 10.4.11, and sometimes with Safari and FireFox. Newer versions of IE and Opera seem to handle the site fine (and do let me know if its otherwise!)
2. To help readers with above systems/browsers, I have tried to reduce the page loading time by limiting the number of posts on main page to 5 (rest all in archives! click the older link at the bottom right of the page)
3. I also read up that HTML clean up can help different browsers understand HTML in a way that it does not freeze the system and loads as it is freaking supposed to load (excuse my french). So in the coming days I will make attempts at cleaning up my blog's HTML (how cool does that sound?! Clean up HTML! I impress myself sometimes!). Successful attempts should hopefully result in a smoother reading experience
4. Also, as a recommendation, for readers who have trouble loading An Indian Summer, can you please try clearing you cache'? There is supposed to be a cache' that stores versions of each site on you PC/Mac, and you want to clear it. It just might help.
5. If there is anything else you might recommend, you know what to do - Write to me please.
Phew! So much for HTML and browsers and technology! I will be back tomorrow with a luscious post and announcement of some great stuff launching and happening in the design world:)

Some readers sent me a note to tell me that they are having trouble viewing/loading An Indian Summer when using Mac and some specific browsers. While I hyperventilate and google for help (read desperate help!) to figure out why this might be happening and what I can do to resolve the issue, please be so kind to take the online survey (look left. since the survey is on the left sidebar. first thing on top. can't miss it) and let me know if you have been having similar issues reading this blog.
What will really help me:
1. Do take the survey even if you can read An Indian Summer alright (will help me see the glass half full and stuff...)
2. Send me an email if you have any comments or additional info (like- since when this has been happening etc) or ANY suggestion to help figure out this freaking issue

The bug has bitten me again! I got bored with my blog's template and have been fiddling with HTML (and CSS, i think..) to change the look and feel. The new blog header is the result of one such moderately successful experiment. Expect to see some more changes in the coming days/weeks (depends on how long the change itch persists). In the blog's layout, and look & feel, if you like something the way it is, or hate something the way it is...now is the time to tell me! Depending on whether I can google and find a decent tutorial on how to, your wish shall be my command!
