A beautiful shabby chic Savannah cottage with some Scandinavian flavor

February is a great month for the home decor magazines. I had a stack waiting for me when I returned from Spain, and I've never used so many page markers! I thought I'd start off sharing all the things inspired me with this light and pretty Savannah cottage- which was condemned when the couple bought it for $29,000. I have a crush on Savannah so my ears always perk at the name!

I really like this simple, clean kitchen

I like the bedding and nightstand here, but I think all the objects above the headboard are a bit much. What do you think?

I really like flat(ish) weave, striped rugs. I really, really like them when they're only $2.99 like the one above from Ikea.

Period houses galore - people who live in centuries old homes

I literally stumbled across the site, Period Properties the other day, and down the rabbit hole I fell! It's like flipping through a fairy tale and seeing how people - rich and poor, lived hundreds of years ago. The catch is people live there now, have tried to preserve the character of the home, and tell their renovating stories.

I could totally call this cottage my own :)

My mother would love this room!

So - what do you think? Could you live in a home this old and so historically decorated?

Fresh and clean idea houses and home tours

It's been a rough morning for me due to some stupid mistakes I made on some rather important paperwork, so I need a little zen before I start trying to clean up my mess.

A most charming creekside cottage

It only took one image and I knew I had to post this upstate NY house. It is simply adorable!

I love the use of color in this house - it is quiet but still cheerful and just bright enough!

Relaxed, beautiful homes by photographer Laura Resen

After being in Alaska for a week, I was ready to go home - even if it meant 14 hours of flights and layovers. These gorgeous photos by Laura Resen conjure up the warm feeling I get when I've been on the road too long and thinking of home...

This would be a cheap and easy way to decorate -- some stones found outside, some wildflowers from the yard, some glass vessels around the house...

What an awesome archive

Two different but beautiful beach homes

Granted, I focused on waterfront homes yesterday, but it's a hard thing to get too much of - so why not some more? The first home focuses on preserving the funky personality of original beach cottages, while the second home is modern in design - but constructed from reclaimed materials...which is closer to your aesthetic?
