I love etsy

I am so excited, I made my first sale on etsy today, and I need to celebrate!  What better way than to feature a couple of other etsy sellers whose stuff I like.  I know it's stating the obvious but etsy is an amazing tool.  It enables so many people, particularly women, to sell from home to a world wide market.  I love it!

I adore this painting, it is fresh and happy.  What's more
we need to protect our bees, they're good for our planet.

I've always loved pincushions, they make mending more
fun and this one is particularly pretty.

Some people are very clever at wrapping gifts with ribbons and
fancy paper, these labels are so sweet, they'd look
great even against a plain paper wrapping.

Voila, some retail therapy for your weekend, have a great one!

Les affaires reprennent !!

I was so happy this weekend,  we had our first local antique fair of the season.  'La foire a tout'.  I hauled my youngest son out of bed, (my boys have always loved these fairs)  and hidden behind scarves, woolly hats, gloves, duffel coats - well you get the picture - off we went before breakfast!

We weren't disappointed, there were loads of people, but I still managed to find quite a few fun things, some of which have gone straight onto my etsy page.

I managed to resist the turquoise rocking swan - a will of iron, I know

I steered the boy clear of the green tank, tempting but no  ....

but I did find some pretty china

And what did you do this weekend?

Affordable photography for travelers and dreamers

Etsy is full of gems and I was so happy to be shown one the other day. These photos are from Saturnalia - and her work is evocative of carefree days enjoying the sun or wandering around a new city - free from time constraints. I hope you like them, and you can see more and read about her technique at the store, My Saturnalia

This photo of the chrysanthemum might just be my favorite

Gorgeous handmade boleros and shrugs from etsy - get ready for fall!

I stumbled across one of these last night and all hope was lost. I didn't even know these were called boleros - I always called them shrugs. Are they not gorgeous?

Help me find a cute summer purse

Okay, here's a fun post for you guys. I need a summer handbag (a little late, I know), but I've been lugging around my thick dark leather back and it's starting to err...get sticky. I'm looking for something that's a canvas material, and has a pretty, feminine print. Does anyone know where such a gem can be found? Here are some pretties I found on Etsy.

I love all of these - and now I know where to go when I need a new wallet - Cotton Purr.
Retrofied bag can be found here, myTida bag here, and From Nancy bag here.

Charm Design is chock full of adorable stuff too. I don't know how one narrows it down!

Those clutches are just toooo cute - next time I have a wedding to go to I know where to go! You can see more at the Davie and Chiyo etsy store.

The bags from Pieces of Kandee are my favorite shape bag - a hobo that sits under your arm.

An Etsy discount on adorable art!

Encaustic artist Susan Najarian has been kind enough to extend all Decorology readers a 10% discount on her 5x5 paintings. If you aren't familiar with encaustic - it's a really cool medium!

From wikipedia: "Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid/paste is then applied to a surface — usually prepared wood, though canvas and other materials are often used."

My favorite element of Susan's work are the palettes - I'm a sucker for light blues and greens! I also love anything nature themed - and these would look great grouped together!

Go to Susan's Etsy site to see more and shop! To get the discount, mention Decorology in the conversation section of her Etsy site when making a purchase. Enjoy!

Cute Etsy handmade housewares

One reason I love etsy is A- I'm supporting other artists and freelancers, and B - they make buying eco-friendly affordable. Here's a handful of cute stuff I found today.

These funky bowls are made from recycled vinyl records. I think they'd look really good in a group of three on a table or counter in a modern-style home.
