Cool new (and free) online moodboard tool

I wanted to thank Michele for bringing MyDeco to my attention. It's a very cool site with lots of goodies for all of us design enthusiasts out there. There are fun quizes, lots of eye candy, and you can make a moodboard! I also want to check out the 3D room planner they have. Here are the results of my style quiz:

I am a "homecoming queen." This makes me laugh, because I didn't even go to my prom let alone homecoming, and I'm definitely not the "princess" type. ...atleast I don't think I am....

Sadly, my budget definitely puts my dream home on hold...

My bedroom supposedly is, "Your bedroom benefits from a lovely feminine touch. Sleep is fundamentally important to our well being. Soft furnishings really do absorb sound, and touch is such an important sense in the bedroom, from crisp, linen sheets to wool or even sheepskin underfoot. This is pretty accurate! You can see my bedroom here (a few things have been changed since this post, but you get the gist).

My moodboard - I love white interiors. But recently, I've also been into richly colored accent pieces and upholsteries in luxurious fabrics. I also learned a bit about myself in the process - I like mirrored case goods!

Cozy How-To

1. Measure the length (top to bottom) of the television screen; add 1 inch to this measurement for seam allowance. Then, measure the depth of the screen. Add this to the total length. Lastly, multiply this measurement by 2 to cover both the front and back of the television. For the cozy pictured, Page left the base of the television exposed; if you want to cover the entire television, measure from the top of the screen to the table it will be sitting on, adding 1 inch for seam allowance and multiplying this measurement by 2 to cover both the front and back of the television.

2. Measure the depth of the screen. Then measure the width of the screen. (You will need to add a 1/2 inch on each side for seam allowance.)

3. Select desired fabric and cut to your specific measurements.

4. Fold fabric square in half, with the desired side of fabric facing in.

5. Sew 1/2 inch in on both short ends to create a hem.

6. Sew up the left and right sides with a straight stitch allowing for a 1/2-inch hem.

7. Next, you will need to create a gusset, which is a simple triangular insert that creates a box edge that tailor fits the cozy to the television screen. To create the gusset, pinch the corner of the top-right seam of cozy. The pinch should be parallel to the seam hanging down the side of the cozy; it will form a triangular shape. Stitch a seam across right above where the fabric begins to taper.

8. Cut off any excess fabric from triangle. Repeat with top-left corner.

9. Turn right-side out and slip over television.

My room! (finally I know) I'm so excited to hear your suggestions!

I hadn't forgotten that I promised to post images of my room after I'd selected a paint color (with the help of you guys), it just took me awhile to feel like it was in a state where I could reveal it. Here's the original post if you need to refresh your memory. So I'm just going to call this phase one, because there are still some improvements I'd like to do but haven't gotten to yet. Anyway, after my friend (thanks Cathie!) had "gently reminded" me twice, I knew had to bite the bullet and show it to you guys. I'm really anxious to hear your ideas.

This is the "front" of the room. I'm standing at the foot of my bed here. I plan to find some really pretty fabric and create a "skirt" to go around the radiator, which I'll attach to the shelf. Any fabric suggestions would be great, because of course I can't decide.



I'm starting a "photo wall" on the wall back there, but it's really important that the images are all meaningful to me, so it will be a work in progress. The image below is where I got the inspiration.

The mirror I bought for $20 at a flea market, and painted the frame white.

I also want to make a cover for my monitor on top of the desk (see inspiration below). My laptop lives in the secretary. The scoop back chair I bought for $5 from a stoop sale.

Adorable gifts from my friend Illana, the packaging is just too pretty for me to open!

I found two long, thin wooden boxes on the curb, which I painted white and installed on either side of my bed. They take up less space than nightstands and help curb clutter since they're small. The small lamps on either side of the bed are from ikea - and kind of hard to make out here.

The sliding doors that were on the closet were fussy, so I installed a brown velvet curtain and it works great.


I took the frame off my full length mirror and plan on stretching some fabric over it to create a "headboard"
